The last time I got my ends trimmed was in December 2019. In March, I was supposed to get the French-girl cut I’d been fantasizing about for years (long layers and Bardot bangs) in Paris by the one and only Delphine Courteille (she snips Jeanne Damas’s gamine fringe). But then COVID hit and my trip got cancelled along with my French-girl hair dreams. Tragique.

These days, my cat has taken to chewing on the fried ends of my ponytail every time I downward-dog in the living room. They’re so hay-like, I’m pretty sure horses would do the same if I got too close. I keep meaning to book a salon appointment, but then I remember I should probably go to the dentist first and get my eyes checked and, well, I just haven’t gotten around to it yet.
